Watercolor on paper.
Family group of three naive school watercolor portraits miniature in their presumably original rosewood frames with stepped gilt slips, glass and wooden backboards.
On the back paper covering are labels that date and identify the sitters: Rev. and Mrs. Beswick and 5 year old Sarah Annie Beswick, taken at Manchester in 1839.
All are holding books.

Normally, everything on the blog is in the collection of the DAG, but exceptions are made.
These examples are from a wonderful 36 page brochure that was distributed by the Travelers Insurance Company from 1938 entitled "Lest We Regret."
Comment from it's lender, historian and author Mark Sceurman (Publisher of WeirdNJ):
"It's horrific lessons on the dangers of driving, but great art, getting into the streamlined art age before 1940."
